On Milton teachers take action

Redtop - Have you ever considered a) your daughter is lying to you and that money you sent her for "food and books" is really for beer and shots? Or b) that your daughter isn't as smart as her roommates and takes a long time on assignments?

If you don't want to send your child to school with kleenex, hand sanitizer, etc. would you then be alright if his/her teachers didn't allow them to use any of this utensils?

Beloit College, Riverfest, Beloit Snappers, Beloit Film Festival, Beckman Mill, Angel Museum, Friday's in the Park, Music at Harry's Place, Thunder on the Rock are all fun events or places to attend. Have you checked out our brand new library? La Casa Grande, the Rock, Tilley's, Jersey's just tip the iceberg of the places you can get some good grub in the city. The Beloit Inn is the nicest hotel in the area. Beloit is also home to Kyle Weaver of the NBA and Jim Caldwell, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts....and, of course, is home to the 2009 Regional Soccer Champions from Beloit Memorial High School!! :)

I would love to see those who think that large class sizes are no problem at all. I teach in a classroom that has 26 students. 5 students have IEP's, 5 more have SPP's (student promotion plans, the stage before IEP's), 12 students speak English as a second language, and 4 have been labeled gifted. Sprinkle in the three on behavior plans and you have quite a crew! Work my butt off to make it work though because ya gotta love the kids!

On Craig, Parker soccer seasons end

Badger4Life - Craig's goalie, Max Niedermeier, hurt/broke an ankle and he didn't play the last handful of games. Max was a HUGE part of the Craig team and kept them in some games they had no business being in. When you lose one of the top 3 goalies in the conference it has an impact!

Gonzalez - Parker wasn't going to beat Sun Prairie or Madison East this year. From a pure talent standpoint, I am not sure how they were able to stay within a goal of Craig everytime they played them. I hope that Parker starts to turn things around because it helps the entire southern part of the Big 8 in the respect area.

FYI - Beloit Memorial won their game tonight 2-1 in over time to win their first regional championship in 10+ years. The records continue to fall for the Purple Knights who improved to 16-7-2 on the season!

Gonzalez - I'll ask you an honest question...do you think that Parker's talent level this year was good enough to beat the opponents they had on their schedule? If so, what teams? I understand getting your lunch handed to you is no fun but if you don't have the horses it is hard to win the race. Parker was able to rise up and play with Craig 3 times and I think Craig had some decent talent with Davila and Niedermeier.

When the kid that scores your 2nd goal also scores your 15th goal there is something wrong. Use your subs. If you don't have enough play your offense and defense and vice versa. Start pulling kids off the field so it is 11 v. 10 or 11 v. 9 or even 11 v. 8. Your team would gain a whole lot more under those circumstances!

On Ranked teams down local squads

I think you need to cut these guys some slack. Playing in the Big 8 Conference is no easy task. The Madison schools in a down year are among the best in the state. West may very well win state this year and Memorial is full of quality talent. It's easy to throw stones if you don't know or understand the whole picture. It is difficult for teams like Beloit Memorial, Janesville Parker and Janesville Craig to compete with kids who play soccer only 365 days of the year. Hopefully the communities will continue to progress to the point where club level, or at least some sort of league, is available to the players in the summer and winter.
