On Foreclosure market offers home-buying opportunities

Posted on September 28 at 8:24 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I feel very bad for those people who paid their bills, have worked hard to get a home they can raise their family in and then lose their jobs and lose their homes. I agree there should be more help for people who qualify, ie lose their jobs through no fault of their own. But how long do we help them? Some people have been out of work for 2 years. Banks taking losses will just pass that down to their other clients. Houses sitting empty are not good for property values or the neighborhood. Getting a good deal on a house may mean someone who could never afford a home, can now buy one. I sold my home this year at a very big loss - I couldnt afford the payments any more. I bought a new house, at about 30% below its value and cut my payment in half. I knew enough to take of things before it went into a forclosure situation.

On State begins making public Medicaid cuts

Im not very political, and dont understant the whole teaparty thing. I am not a walker supporter for my own reasons. We are already footing the bill for these services, and if we can find a way to reduce the fraud , then money can be spent on drug testing..which by the way is about $12, lower if done in volume. I have always wondered how people who are out of work and rely on the system for everything can still find money for illegal drugs. Before I am judged, I have spent most of my life helping homeless, the underemployed or unemployed and the disabled. My opinions are just that.

If you read what I wrote a little closer it said that it would eliminate about 50% of those people who shouldnt be on the system. Not 50% of all people in the system. There are people that are in the program and who dont abuse it. These systems are in place to help people to get to point A to point B. It was never intended to become a way of life or an excuse to not try and get yourself out of poverty. As far as testing for illegal drugs, I stand by my statement. There are state and federal programs for people with certifiable disabilities and they are given health care, depending on their income or lack of.

I believe anyone using any Federal or State systems ( Healthcare, food share, etc.) should be drug tested, those failing should be denied. They also need to be drug tested at least once a year to keep those services.
That should elminate about 50% of those who shouldnt be on the system.
I also think that anyone getting public assitance should be put to work doing community services.

On Job center specialist won't give up on his Janesville family

The job center and the annex helps those, that help themselves - no more , no less.
It is not the job of these case workers to solve your problems or hand you a job on a silver platter. It is their jobs to help people with whatever resources they have available. This as a well written article, I never understand why people take a positive article and only find the negative.

On Grant money will help retrain displaced workers

If you are laid off from work through no fault of your own you are eligible for training money at the job center - it does not matter what company or industry you have been laid off from. The amounts of money you are eligible for may be different depending on what pot of money you are eligible for. Call the folks at the job center, dislocated worker program and ask.

Maybe you could get a better job than stuffing envelopes if you took advantage of some of the programs available to enhance your education, instead of wasting time critiquing staff that has a real job...
