On Erik Buell to reopen East Troy operations as racing-bike shop

Good luck to Buell.....With his partnership with harley he had the financial backing he needed but he was tied to an antiquated, low performance motor......hardley something to base a sportbike on. With the access to the Rotax motor he received during his final year working with Harley, Buell actually has a bike that could give the Japanese/European machines a run for their money....There is no doubt that after breaking free of the cruiser/pirate/weekend tough-guy mindset that Harley bases it's market around, that Buell's bikes will be better than ever......

Excellent article......I simply cannot understand why the liberals are pushing for the government to enter into the "business" of health care. They have proven themselves completely inept at running a "business" time and time again......

Embarrassing, but fitting I guess. Having a machine "symbolize" our state--a machine that is stuck in the past, having evolved significantly less than it's counterparts, with no idea on which direction to take going in to the future......I would say it's an accurate representation:)

A 2000% tax increase? That is seriously a freaking joke. Regardless of the product that this market segment produces, they are companies that employ hard working people who would surely be on the unemployment lines if the insane tax increase wasn't worked around. Why don't they take some of the billions of taxpayer dollars thrown away on that mess of a company GM has become to fund children's health care and leave companies that are surviving without government aid alone.......

evansvillehousewife--No, I am not in favor of any of those things. Your rant makes little sense. If the cost of the procedure is only $300, the couple that made the "mistake" SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING FOR IT THEMSELVES. That's only $150 for each of the "great decision makers" that failed to use a dozen or more methods of birth control that would have totally avoided the situation. Our government already finances enough stupidity--this amendment is attempting to stop it from financing even more....

Janevillean....don't be so dramatic.....
You don't want to get pregnant--USE BIRTH CONTROL!!!! There have been many forms available for years now. I have no problem with women having complete control with what they do with their bodies--but making a decision that could lead to an unwanted pregnancy, and then expecting taxpayers to pick up the tab for taking care of their "mistake" is laughable......
Devilsadvocate is right--this current round of health care reform will get killed in the Senate.......Thank God:)

+1 to Garyprimer's post.....Last quarter's "great performance" was also largely subsidized by the taxpayer financed "cash for clunkers" program. The company has undeniably become "government motors" and will continue to need billions in financing to stay viable. Employees of that company are definitely reaping the benefits of working for a company that is considered "too big to allow to fail".......

Localboy.....you can't seriously be that clueless as to why people attached the "idiot" label to you in this thread.....can you? The author of the article prefaced the comment section with "If you're going to bash, don't bother commenting" and the first thing out of your mouth is the "Beloit is the armpit of Rock County" and then go on to attack all of the positive things Beloit brings to Rock County. Thankfully, your attitude and ignorance isn't shared by those in the city you live in--otherwise it would be a REALLY depressing place:)

On Erik Buell to reopen East Troy operations as racing-bike shop

Relax Noob.....Everything I said rings true. Buell marketed it's machines as "American sportbikes". The 1200cc Harley motor averages around 70 to 80 horsepower. The Japanese/Euro literbikes more than double that. Buell could simply not compete. Add to that, the disdain most Harley dealers treated the Buell line with while it was in their showrooms, one doesn't have to wonder why it failed. Buell's machines had trouble finding an identity. They didn't fit the mold of the leather bandana/black harley t-shirt wearing, "loud pipes save lives" screaming customer that the dealerships were used to pedaling to. Because of their relatively weak/ancient motor they were not considered by the sportbike crowd. Hopefully Buell can continue to work with the Rotax and separate itself from the stigma Harley has attached to his name......
