man i can't believe how much whining is going on over this topic!!!! the hockey club just held the state mite a tournament last week and brought in $200,000 in revenue to the local businesses. we get a better facitlity built and are able to hold more tournaments hmmmm...oh yeah more money to be spent in janesville. wow what a concept.

Oregon just opened their rink which cost $3.5million to build. it probably would have cost more had the community not come together to help make it happen. the architect donated his own time and didn't charge anything for drawing the plans, and the city donated the land. this is what needs to happen here.

we all need to help keep this community going.lashing out and whining about taxes isn't going to get you anywhere.apparently you are not short of money if you can afford the internet. or are you using the computer at the library that your tax dollars go to. do you know where it is? don't just sit there and wait for something to happen to you. go out and make it happen. the community needs to come together not just for the ice arena but for every thing going on here. what are you gonna do when they need to raise taxes to fix rockport pool?

yes the rink does need upgrades it has needed them for over 20years. what we need is a new facility. within 3 years it will cost more to fix what is wrong with the rink. start from the ground up. then you will be able to build to suit. better locker rooms, better seating and even a press box,and even a beer garden for those that wish to have a beverage. maybe the local cable could even broadcast the games. we need 2 sheets of ice with the amount of kids that are skating nowadays. hockey in rockford was almost nothing. since the icehogs came in 10 years ago they have grown to hundreds of kids playing, and have 2 rinks. the icehogs gave back to the community which i am sure is something this jr team could also do. turn the old rink into a rec center for teens. hold indoor soccer or even roller hockey leagues down there. ya it may be a burden for some of you but think about our KIDS and their KIDS.

the reason traxler park was shut down is because the jaycees had a mud volleyball tournament there and they never cleaned up the mess!!! traxler park was always busy until they took away the box. remember they also had broomball being played down there.

ghostface...first of all the ice hogs are not hurting. second of all have you ever driven past the rink when there is a jets game going on? the parking lot is packed!!! you all need to quit whining about this and that. what about the new baseball fields that are being built? those fields will most likely get used less than the rink does. the economy is turning around and houses are selling. get your heads out of the gutter and start caring about our city!!!
