I am not a smoker, but I'm sick of the Government telling us what we can do. Let the business owners decide. Lynda if you think taxes are going to stop people from smoking it's not going to happen. They keep raising the taxes & people still smoke. It's an addiction. More people will roll their own to cut the cost.
On Beloit police seize 151 pounds of marijuana

I agree just legalize it & the government could make money & the police could focus on other crimes. The Government promised to create new jobs, they need think outside the box & this would be one way. Our old GM plant could grow a lot of weed & some people might take some pot as part of their pay. It's a win win situation! And no I'm not smoking any right now. I tried it a few times over 20 years ago & it did nothing for me. Maybe I wasn't inhaling it right.
On GM offers buyout to laid-off workers

To all of you complaining abot your tax dollars paying for this: I hope you were just as outraged when the banks took billions of dollars to pay out bonuses & send their employees to the spa. The CEO from Merill Lynch got a job at Bank of America & spent $1 million redecorating his new office. That's a bit much. The cash offer at GM will barely cover the taxes on the car& cash. I guess they want to make sure we have a car to live in when more homes go into foreclosure. And no, I'm not even close to that happening because I don't own a big fancy house, a boat, do drugs or go to the bar as some one suggested all GM employees do. (different post last week)No one is asking you to feel sorry for us poor GM workers, just don't expect us to feel sorry for you.
On Saving money at the library

I've been going to the library on a regular basis for a few years now. I can't tell you the last time I paid to rent a movie. They have a great selection & if Janesville doesn't have it another library might. It may take me a little longer to see a new release, but it's well worth the wait. Since all the libraries are linked it takes less time to get an item that is on hold. It's a great service. I just wish everyone would be responsible & return the items they check out. There are many items that show they are lost-missing- or a customer has been billed.

JOKER: Has anyone told you you are good or are you making that assumption on your own? Tooting your own horn does make you arrogant. I have no idea what you do besides make comments that seem to piss people off. It's funny you think everyone is jealous of you. You sound like someone with littleman syndrome. How tall are you?

JOKER: This is why people call you arrogant:
" I am not arrogant. I am very successful in everything that I do"
Well good for you, now pat yourself on the back & feel superior.
On Wisconsin vets see pet owners cutting back on care

First of all I hope Wahoo_35 doesn't own any animals. You don't sound like you have much compassion.
Vet bills can be much worse then a Doctor bill unless you have pet insurnace. My dog became anemic this year & they gave her a 50/50 chance to live. I made the decision to try & it cost me about $5000. She only lived for a few months & at one point I thought she was recovering. She was the sweetest dog in the world, so I do not regret my decision. I do what is necessary for all my animals.
I also know that somethings are not absoultely necessary. When I was younger no one ever thought of having their dogs teeth cleaned. None of my dogs have & they always get good reviews for tarter control. Rawhide bones & hard dog food work wonders. I do agree with Deborah that some vaccines can make our pets sick. When my dog was diagnosed the first thing they wanted to know is if she was recently vacinated or given front line or heart guard. All these thing that are suppose to help our pets can hurt them.
Not only are people not going to the vet, but they are also surrendering the pets they do have. Just go to the Humane Society & check out all the cats they have.
If it's comes to me or my pets doing without. I'll make the sacrifice because they depend on me for their needs.

Arlington actually worked a few Saturdays in December & they were working 9 hour days. They were also told they may be scheduled 30 Saturdays for 2009. Then the next thing you know they get a few weeks of layoff. I think GM was trying to hold onto their cash until Obama gets into office. GM & Chrysler both closed most of their plants until inauguration day. I hope people who transfer to other plants hold onto their transfer $$ because GM isn't done shutting plants. Good luck to all looking for work.

Everyone is quick to blame the autoworkers wages for the problems at GM. GM, Ford & Chrysler are in trouble because the economy is TERRIBLE. How can a business survive when sales are down 41%? It started with declining house prices, then the banks failing which led to the credit crunch. People aren't buying new cars right now & even Toyota's sales are down. It just happens that they have more cash because their country actually subsidizes their auto industry. Congress has been grilling the CEO's about everything under the sun & how they plan to fix things. If you ask me the worst run business in this country is the United States Government. If they need more money all they do is sell more bonds to China. We are over $10 trillion dollars in debt & they don't want to loan out $25 billion to keep a lot more people off the unemployment rolls. Rememebr if the big 3 fail the Government is still responsible for all the retirees pensions. Trust me it will way more then $25 billion.

"I liken it to trying to sell your neighbor's car," said John Beckord, president of Forward Janesville. "You understand you might be able to buy your neighbor's car and then resell it, but you don't know that you can buy it."
Huh?
