916 You are very correct. However a lot of what was said that there was "overwhelming support" and "the the people have spoken" All I was saying is that it is not that overwhelming and much more split than both sides have said.

If this was the so called "referendum" on Scooter Walker and his policies, obviously Scooter was a little bit off in saying that an overwhelming amount of people support his ideas.

Stigma, maybe you should go back to school. Our government is a "3 Ring Circus" Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. All three should have the same amount of power.

Yeah TJ that sounds great but here is part of the problem. Say you have 5 downtown "directors" (inc Supt) sitting in a room. You are probably looking at over $600,000 in salary sitting in that room. It would take about 12 average teachers to make just over $600,000. That is well over 2 to 1. I thought this was a share the pain plan. 5 people making what 12 people make and the12 are being asked to take a hit. What about the 5? Do people trust the board that if concessions are made that jobs would be saved?

To continue my thought, if this bill is supposed to help the cities and schools, why are all these groups so interested in getting these done before the bill. If it helped cities and schools so much why would they not wait. Remember it takes TWO to negotiate and TWO to agree

Our "fair" Governor was probably talking about the City of Janesville employees who just settled a contract not the teachers who settled a while ago

Rep Knilans, what business is going to come to Janesville, when this bill takes away wages from employees in 3 sets of the top 10 employers in town. Who is going to spend money anywhere? You are right on one thing. What business will want to come to a town with no money to spend
