The UW-Whitewater women’s basketball team was on the happy end of a buzzer-beater on Wednesday night.

On Saturday afternoon, the Warhawks were on the other end of the spectrum.

River Falls’ Brynn Liljander hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer to give the host Falcons a 51-48 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.

Three days earlier, Camri Conley hit a basket to give the Warhawks a win over No. 3-ranked UW-Oshkosh.

Whitewater’s Brooke Trewyn had tied the game Saturday with a free throw.

The Warhawks’ cold shooting from the field was the deciding factor. Whitewater shot just 26.4 percent from the field. They stayed in the game by making 20 of 30 free throws.

Senior forward Andrea Meinert scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed five rebounds. Olivia Freckmann had 14 points.

River Falls trailed 46-41 before making its final surge.

Whitewater (1-1 in the WIAC, 11-2 overall) plays UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kachel Gymnasium.
