UW-Baraboo ended UW-Rock County’s basketball season Saturday.

The visitors pulled away in the final nine minutes to down the Rattlers 75-60 in a second-round Wisconsin Collegiate Conference playoff game. The Rattlers earned a first-round bye as a division champion.

“We didn’t show up today,” Coach Bill Peyer said. “It was one of our lowest scoring games of the season.”

Baraboo led 30-27 at halftime. Rock County took a brief lead with about nine minutes to go, but then went cold.

“It was our own doing,” Peyer said. “We had three turnovers in four possessions, and they scored after each one of them. Then we missed three layups after that.

“We had opportunites, but just didn’t take advantage of them.”

Ernest Cottier led the Rattlers with 15 points. Jacob Hanus had 12 and J.J. Scott added 10.
