For 38 minutes, Friday’s North American Hockey League clash between the Minnesota Magicians and the visiting Janesville Jets didn’t see a goal.

At 18:07 of the second period, Minnesota’s Carter Breitenfeldt changed that with his seventh goal of the season to lift the Magicians to a 1-0 win in the Midwest Division bout.

Minnesota improved to 21-18-3-2, while Janesville fell to 28-10-2-2. The Jets still hold a 13-point lead over the Magicians for second place in the Midwest Division.

The Jets were getting chances in the first period and out-shot the Magicians 13-5 through the first 20 minutes. The Magicians took over the offense from there and outshot the Jets the rest of the way.

Minnesota goalie Isaiah Saville recorded a 26-save shutout for the Magicians. Jets goalie Gavin Nieto stopped 20 pucks.

Game two of the weekend series takes place tonight in Richfield, Minnesota.
