Whitewater’s hot start was too much for Janesville Parker in a nonconference high school wrestling dual meet Tuesday night.
The Whippets won the first four matches and eight of the first nine on the way to a 48-27 victory over the visiting Vikings.
Robby Liberto, Jimmy DuVal and Tyler Sheffield each had pins for Whitewater, which raced out to a 21-0 lead through the first four matches. After Tre Smith got Parker on the board with a pin 220 pounds, the Whippets scored 21 straight points again, thanks to pins from Tyler Gamble, Trenten Zahn and Cody Gamble.
“We had a great finish,” said Parker coach Daniel Jackson, who saw his team win four of the last five bouts. “But they’ve got some tough kids, and the hardest part was just falling behind early.”
Along with his wrestlers who won by fall, Jackson lauded Palmer Goodwick’s 5-1 decision at 138 pounds and Tristan Boul’s battle despite getting pinned in the third period at 106.
Parker wrestles at the West Allis Central invite Friday and Saturday.
