Evansville/Albany’s wrestling team is headed to Viroqua on Tuesday night.

The Blue Devils won the Division 2 Belleville Regional on Saturday to earn a berth in the four-team Viroqua Team Sectional on Tuesday

“We got through it. It was a challenging day for us. Our starting 182 was out with the flu, so we were down two weights,” Blue Devils coach Rob Kostroun said. “The rest of the kids had to carry the load. We talked about it as a group, and they did a pretty nice job of doing that.”

Evansville/Albany, behind four champions, won the regional title with 227.5 points. Edgerton was second with 196.5 and Monroe third with 170.5.

Evansville/Albany wrestles Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro in a semifinal match Tuesday at 6 p.m.

“They haven’t traditionally been in our sectional, so it’ll be new for them and new for us,” Kostroun said of his team’s next opponent. “The main thing is the kids have got to be ready to compete. It’s a great opportunity for our kids and our program. All we can do is make sure we’re ready.”

Jared Miller won the Blue Devils’ first title at 113 pounds, and he was followed by champions Evan Senter at 120, Ben Barmore at 145 and Branden Lange at 285.

Ryan Hazzard (106), Cole Bavery (132) and Carter Klein (138) won titles for the Crimson Tide, while Jack Sagaitis (126) and Trey Grinke (195) gave Beloit Turner two champs.

Brodhead/Juda’s Jackson Hauri (152) and Trent Davis also won titles.

The individual sectional meet is next Saturday at Richland Center.
