Led by top-three finishes from Keeanu Benton and Nate Ellis, the Janesville Craig wrestling team finished seventh out of 43 teams during the two-day Mid-States Classic held at UW-Whitewater.

Craig coach Mark Mullen said Benton finished second in the 285-pound division, while Ellis was third at 138 pounds.

“(It was) fairly good competition and we saw a lot of teams we don’t normally see, so that was good experience,” Mullen said.

Full tournament results were not provided.

The Cougars return to the mat Jan. 6 in a dual against Lodi.

“Hopefully we can get everyone back to being healthy and come ready to work hard in the second half of our season,” Mullen said.
