The Rock County Fury spread the goal-scoring wealth to earn their fourth straight win.
Seven different players found the back of the net as the area’s girls hockey co-op routed Stoughton 7-0 in a Badger Conference game Saturday at Mandt Community Arena.
The Fury (15-2-2, 8-0-0 Badger) hold a 3.5-game lead over Cap City for first place in the conference, according to available results. Stoughton (5-13-0, 2-5-0 Badger) suffered its fourth straight loss.
“The girls came out focused and ready to play,” Rock County coach Luke Steurer said. “We were moving the puck very well up the ice and in the offensive zone to create scoring opportunities.”
Presley Kovacevich scored her first goal of the season and Ally Burke and Kaitlynn Beyer added goals to make it 3-0 in the first 6:45 of the game.
Maggy Henschler, Anika Einbeck, Alyssa Knauf and Haley Knauf scored during the second period.
Henschler had a goal and four assists in her 10th multi-point game of the season. The senior ranks third in the state with 41 points (21 goals, 20 assists), already a career-high.
Rock County out-shot Stoughton 57-8 in the win.
The Fury are ranked No. 4 in the state heading into Tuesday’s nonconference “Pink the Rink” game against Arrowhead. The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Janesville Ice Arena.
