The losses continue to mount for Janesville Parker’s girls basketball team.

The Vikings dropped their sixth game in the last seven Thursday night after losing 62-48 to Waunakee in a nonconference tilt.

Parker (7-12 overall) trailed 35-13 and could not recover. The Vikings did outscore the Warriors 35-27 the second half.

“Hopefully, we can find some heart in our last three (regular season games) or it’s going to be a disappointing ending to a very disappointing season,” Parker coach Jennah Hartwig said.

“We had a horrible start tonight and first half. We played with more fire the second half and cut it to 11, but a couple of fouls allowed them to push the lead back to 18.”

Brooke Graesslin had 14 points to lead Parker and Jacy Benway added 13. Big Eight Conference scoring leader Julia Hartwig was held to eight points, 12 below her season average.

Parker plays at Beloit Memorial on Tuesday.
