The Milton High girls basketball team got a bit of a preview of its WIAA girls basketball tournament bracket Monday.

The Red Hawks had to have liked what they saw.

Milton, the No. 4 seed in its bracket which begins next week, cruised to a victory over Waterford, the sixth seed, 74-49 in a nonconference game in Milton.

Red Hawks senior Emma Martin matched her career high with 21 points, and the team built a double-digit lead by halftime and pulled further away from there.

Milton is now 10-11 overall.

Kailey Harbort added 13 points for the Red Hawks, while Shelby Mack-Honold had 10.

Milton plays at first-place Monroe on Thursday.

Southern Lakes

Badger 49, Wilmot 47—The host Badgers avenged a 72-60 loss in the first Southern Lakes meeting between these teams.

Both teams are now tied for third in the league standings at 9-4.

Badger hosts Union Grove on Friday.

Union Grove 63, Elkhorn 40—Brooklyn Bull scored 17 points and became Union Grove’s all-time leading scorer on a three-point play in the second half.

The Broncos (17-3, 11-1 SLC) remain in first place in the Southern Lakes and can clinch at least a share of their fourth straight conference title with a win tonight at Delavan-Darien.

Payton Christensen had 10 points for Elkhorn (9-11, 4-9 SLC). Union Grove outscored the Elks 33-15 in the second half to pull away.

The Elks get a break from Southern Lakes play with a game at Columbus tonight.

Trailways South

Parkview 48, Williams Bay 27—Hunter Baars set a season high with 19 points and the Vikings defense clamped down on the visiting Bulldogs for a Trailways South win in Orfordville.

The Vikings (10-11, 9-2 South) held Williams Bay (12-8, 7-4 South) to six points in the first half. Parkview clinched second place with the win.

“We played physical,” Parkview coach Chad Smith said. “They got into foul trouble early and that took out their two best players. We really took care of the ball tonight.”

The Vikings close the regular season Thursday at Palmyra-Eagle.
