The Evansville girls basketball team broke through Monday night.

Paige Banks scored 26 points to lead the host Blue Devils to a 63-38 nonconference victory over Albany.

Evansville, which had lost three of its last four games by four points or less, picked up its first win of the season and is now 1-5.

Abby Eftemoff added nine points for the Blue Devils.

Kristin O’Bel had 10 points for the Comets.

Big Foot 42, Burlington 34—The Chiefs’ trio of Courtney Schoenbeck, Reagan Courier, and Payton Courier combined for 38 points to help the host team overcome Jessa Burling’s triple-double in a nonconference game.

Big Foot (4-2) held Burlington (3-2) to a 26.2 shooting percentage and forced 23 turnovers. Schoenbeck led the Chiefs with three 3-pointers and 14 points.

The Demons mustered just 15 points in the second half. Burling finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 13 steals.

Reagan Courier and Payton Courier had 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Beloit Turner 60, Harvard (IL) 25—The Trojans shut down the visiting Hornets and won their third straight game.

Turner’s Mara Fowler made three 3-pointers and led all players with 13 points. Carson Nitz had 11 points and Elise Metzger had nine points for the Trojans (4-1).

Badger 78, Woodstock (IL) 42—Fourteen different players scored for the Badgers in a big nonconference win Monday over the visiting Blue Streaks.

Alexis Todd scored a season-high 13 points to lead Badger (4-0) while Courtney Oomens added 12 points. Marissa Nurnberg made three 3-pointers for nine points.

Lake Mills 47, Edgerton 38—The Crimson Tide were held to 12 points during the first half and couldn’t mount a comeback on the road.

Jade Pitta scored 20 points to lead Lake Mills (3-2). Edgerton fell to 2-3.

“We knew Lake Mills has a young team, a good group of players,” Edgerton coach Mike Schmidt said. “We got better tonight, and hopefully we’ll just keep getting better.”

Tide forward Bethany Oren led the visitors with 19 points. Jessica Danks added 12 points.
