Big Foot High’s trophy case can now display the school’s first girls regional championship trophy.

The Chiefs earned their first-ever sectional bid with a 72-66 victory Saturday night against visiting Shoreland Lutheran in a WIAA Division 3 regional championship game at Walworth.

Courtney Schoenbeck followed up her 22-point game Friday night in the semifinal win against Lake Mills with a 24-point effort against Shoreland. Schoenbeck hit 11 of 13 free throws, including seven of nine in the second half.

Regan Courier added 19 points, and Payton Courier had 13.

The No. 1-seeded Chiefs (20-5) play No. 3-seeded Lakeside Lutheran at Burlington on Thursday night in a sectional seminal. The winner of that game plays the winner of Marshall and Platteville at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon for a trip to the state tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

Lakeside Lutheran 73, Clinton 44—No. 7-seeded Clinton could not pull off their second upset in as many nights.

The No. 3-seeded Warriors outscored the visiting Cougars 44-19 in the second half to win the Division 3 regional title and advance to Thursday’s sectional semifinal game against Big Foot.

Kaitlin Shadoski led Lakeside with 21 points. Ashley Fritz added 12, and Kalies Birkholz and Kelsey Birschbach each added 11.

Olivia Roehl led the Cougars with 12 points and Liz Kalk added 10. The Cougars finished 11-14.

  • Milton High gave No. 1-ranked Jefferson a brief scare, but the Eagles pulled away for a 59-46 victory in a WIAA Division 2 girls regional final basketball game Saturday night at Jefferson.

The Red Hawks’ 2-3 zone gave the Eagles some difficulty. Milton erased a 29-20 deficit in the second half and tied the game.

Jefferson then used two 3-pointers to regain the lead, and then hit free throws down the stretch to earn the final 13-point victory.

Parker Fetherston hit eight of eight free throws down the stretch and finished with 21 points. Callie Morrison added five free throws in six attempts and finished with 19 points.

Kailey Harbort led the Red Hawks with 16 points. Chloe Buescher added 14 points.

Milton finished with an 11-13 record.

Jefferson (23-1) plays No. 6-seed Waterford at Fort Atkinson a sectional opener Thursday.
