Janesville Parker’s girls basketball team ran into an offensive roadblock in the second half Saturday.
A pile of maladies and fouls didn’t help the Vikings, either.
The Middleton Cardinals out-scored Parker 37-11 in the second half en route to a 69-45 Big Eight Conference win Saturday at Middleton High.
“We just went very cold in the second half,” Parker coach Jennah Hartwig said. “We ran out of gas. They kept attacking the basket and we were struggling to stay in front of them.
“I thought going in we had a great chance of beating them.”
Julia Hartwig and Jenna Forrestal scored 15 points apiece to lead Parker. Forrestal made five 3-pointers before leaving the game with an injury.
“Jenna had a great game before she hurt her knee,” Jennah Hartwig said. “It was nice to see her play with confidence.
Parker’s fourth-leading scorer, Jacy Benway (7.1 points per game), was held scoreless and fouled out with nine minutes left in the second half, and senior Cam Rosga missed the game with the flu.
Sitori Tanin scored 22 points—16 in the second half—to lead Middleton (12-7, 10-5 Big Eight). The Vikings fell to 7-11 overall and 5-10 in Big Eight play.
Parker travels to Waunakee on Thursday and hosts Beloit Memorial on Friday in its final games before next weekend’s playoff seeding meeting.
