Edgerton High’s girls basketball team began postseason play with an upset win Wednesday night.

Jessica Danks scored 21 points to lead the Crimson Tide to a 49-32 victory over host and sixth-seeded Richland Center in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal game.

Eleventh-seeded Edgerton (8-15) plays at third-seeded Platteville on Friday night.

Edgerton held Richland Center to nine first-half points and led 24-9 at the break.

“The game started really slow,” Edgerton coach Mike Schmidt said. “I think it was 2-0 after five minutes. But Jessica started hitting some shots, and we were able to open up a nice lead by half.

“They were able to cut into it a couple times in the second half, but we answered each time. It was a good win against a pretty good team.”

Bethany Oren added 10 points for Edgerton.
