Sulley Geske and Zach Mielke returned to their high-scoring ways, and the Evansville Blue Devils snapped a four-game losing streak with a 73-56 Rock Valley Conference win over visiting Whitewater on Friday. 

After being limited to 15 combined points in a loss Tuesday to Edgerton, Geske (24 points) and Mielke (20 points) ignited the Blue Devils (4-5, 3-3 RVC), who had been held under 60 points in each of their last five games. 

Mielke, a senior who went over 1,000 career points against McFarland on Dec. 14, upped his career total to 1,033 points. 

Daniel Fuller scored 16 points and Ben Kloskey added 13 for Whitewater (2-6, 1-6 RVC), which hasn't won since Nov. 30.  

Geske had 17 points in the first half, and Mielke had 11, as Evansville raced to a 42-24 halftime lead. Seth Maag scored 11 points for the Blue Devils. 

Whitewater is off until Jan. 2. Evansville plays next on Jan. 4.

  • McFarland 74, Big Foot 49--The visiting Spartans found their 3-point shooting touch in the second half and cruised past the Chiefs on Friday.

McFarland (5-2, 5-1 RVC) was 0-for-13 from 3-point range in the first half, but still managed to build a 10-point lead. Phillip Robinson made five of the Spartan's seven second-half 3s to finish with 19 points. 

Logan Eischeid led Big Foot (2-6, 0-6 RVC) with 23 points.
