The Clinton boys basketball team showed off its finishing moves Friday night.

The Cougars led by just two points at halftime but pulled away to a 73-63 Rock Valley Conference victory over visiting Big Foot.

Tyler Halsted scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half for the Cougars, and teammate Zach Krause added 10 after halftime, as well, to propel him to a game-high 24 points.

Logan Eischeid led the Chiefs with 17 points. Clinton improved to 2-2 on the season and Big Foot fell to 1-3.

McFarland 60, Whitewater 51—The visiting Whippets withstood a 9-0 run to start the game and had a lead in the second half, but the Spartans prevailed.

Phillip Robinson scored a game-high 18 points for the Spartans.

Daniel Fuller had 17 to pace Whitewater.

The win put McFarland at 2-1 in conference play and dropped Whitewater to 1-2. Both teams now sit 2-2 overall.

Belleville 80, Brodhead 69—Host Belleville ran out to a 14-point halftime lead and held on from there in a nonconference game.

Justice Tway scored 26 points for the Cardinals, while Brekan Day added 19.
