Beloit Turner’s bid to knock McFarland from its perch atop the Rock Valley Conference was unsuccessful Friday.

The Trojans missed two shots in the final three seconds as the Spartans held on for a 50-49 win in a game between two of the league’s best squads at McFarland High.

McFarland (9-3, 8-1 RVC) remains tied with East Troy atop the league. Turner (9-4, 7-2) is a game behind the leaders.

Sereno Ferone led the Trojans with 16 points, while Dai’Vontrelle Strong added 10.

Trevon Chislom, a 6-foot-6 junior, scored 16 points for McFarland, which started the second half on a 9-0 run to overturn a 25-19 halftime deficit.

Evansville (6-6, 5-4 RVC) led by 11 points at halftime. Logan Eischeid poured in 28 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Big Foot (2-10, 0-9 RVC).

Edgerton 63, Jefferson 49—The Crimson Tide handled the Eagles for their seventh straight win Friday to remain a game back of first place in the Rock Valley.

Edgerton (9-2, 7-2 RVC) sits one game behind co-leaders East Troy and McFarland. The Crimson Tide built a 24-15 halftime lead against the Eagles (4-7, 3-6 RVC).

Michael Polakoski had 28 points to lead East Troy (8-4, 8-1 RVC), which lost 82-66 to Beloit Turner on Tuesday. The Trojans are tied with McFarland atop the Rock Valley.

Brekan Day led Brodhead (4-9, 2-7 RVC) with 18 points. Dawson McGinty added 17 points.
