A combined 25-0 run to start the first and second halves was all Madison Memorial needed to defeat Janesville Parker in Big Eight Conference boys basketball action Friday night.

The Spartans defeated the host Vikings 61-33 to push their Big Eight record to 13-4 and overall record to 16-5.

Memorial scored the first nine points of the game and then expanded a 28-18 halftime lead to 44-18 with a 16-0 spurt.

“We came out flat both times,” said Parker coach Keith Miller.

Ian Brown scored 10 points to lead Memorial, which received points from 10 different players.

Chris Galvan led the Vikings (2-19, 1-16 Big Eight) with 15 points. The Vikings suffered their 11th straight defeat.

“Our first half was good,” said Miller. “We were knocking down shots.

“But Memorial played good defense. We didn’t have many trips to the bucket.”

The Vikings shot only two free throws.

Parker concludes its Big Eight season with a game at Madison West on Thursday night.
