A hot start helped the Edgerton girls basketball team end an eight-game losing streak Monday.

The Crimson Tide held visiting Deerfield to just two made baskets in the first half on the way to a 66-29 nonconference victory.

Edgerton is now 3-10 overall.

The team led 35-8 at halftime and never looked back.

“We jumped on them pretty quick. They didn’t get many shots off in the first half and only had two baskets,” Tide coach Mike Schmidt said. “Second half we kept playing pretty well. We’ve been playing better and growing up a little bit.”

Bethany Oren and Jessica Danks each had 16 points to lead Edgerton. Morgan Demrow added 14.

Jayme Fischer had 10 to lead Deerfield.

Edgerton returns to Rock Valley Conference play Friday, playing at Beloit Turner.

Waunakee 80, Milton 76 (OT)—The Badger Conference Challenge on Friday and Saturday will pit the top teams from the South against the top teams from the North.

Waunakee and Milton, fighting for top-three spots in the North and South, respectively, gave a little preview of the event Monday night.

The host Warriors—third in the North—outscored the Red Hawks 7-3 in overtime to hang on and improve to 9-3 overall. Milton—fourth in the South—fell to 7-5.

Waunakee’s CiCi Rindy led all scorers with 22 points.

Kailey Harbort led Milton with 18, while Chloe Buescher had 17 and Emma Martin 16.

The Red Hawks will face DeForest in the Challenge at Stoughton on Saturday.

Parkview 93, Albany 66—The game was tied 14-14 before the host Vikings went on a 14-5 run to pull away and win a nonconference game.

Eli Hoscheit led all players with 29 points, including making five 3-pointers for Parkview.

The Vikings improved to 7-2.
