UW-Whitewater’s men’s basketball continues to thrive on the road.
The Warhawks improved to 6-0 on the road this season Wednesday night with a 78-65 WIAC win over UW-Eau Claire.
Fifth-ranked Whitewater (12-2, 2-1) shot 52.7 percent from the floor and hit 15-of-17 (88.2 percent) from the free-throw line. The Warhawks outscored the Blugolds 45-35 in the second half to pull away.
Junior guard Andre Brown posted a game-high 25 points for Whitewater on 9-of-14 shooting and added three rebounds. Junior guard Mitchell Pfeifer tallied 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals, and junior guard David Sachs registered 11 points, three assists and two steals.
Whitewater finally pushed the lead to double digits on a Brown jumper with 10:51 left. The Warhawks were 8-for-8 from the line the final 43 seconds.
Whitewater hosts UW-Stout on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Kachel Gymnasium.
