UW-Oshkosh rallied for a win over UW-Whitewater in a WIAC men’s basketball thriller Wednesday night in the Kachel Gym.

Ben Boots’ three-point play with 41 seconds remaining lifted Oshkosh to a 69-67 win.

Whitewater (16-6, 6-5) had a chance to tie or win the game on its last possession but could not get a good shot off.

Senior guard Andre Brown led Whitewater with a career-high 28 points and six rebounds, while junior guard David Sachs tallied 18 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Whitewater had defeated Oshkosh 83-57 in the conference-opener back on Jan. 3.

The Warhawks led by seven midway through the first half, but the Titans cut the deficit to 33-32 by half.

The teams traded baskets in the second half, recording eight lead changes and six ties.

With one minute remaining in play and down one, the Warhawks had possession of the ball and Sachs hit a mid-range jumper, got fouled, and finished the three-point play to give the Warhawks a two-point lead.

Boots responded with his three-point play on the next possession for the final points of the game.

The Warhawks continue WIAC play Saturday at UW-River Falls.
