Janesville golfers split in Big Eight double duals

Thursday was an up-and-down day for the Janesville Craig and Janesville Parker girls golf teams.
Craig High split a Big Eight Conference triple dual at The Bridges in Madison. The Cougars defeated Verona, 384-516, but came up six shots short against Madison East. The Purgolders finished with a 378 total.
Kyleigh Fenton carded an 85 to pace the Cougar girls. Lindsey Beals finished with a 95 and Sarah Sheldon a 99.

n Parker breaks even: The defending Big Eight Conference champion Vikings saw their hopes of a repeat dual title fade on Thursday.
Parker shot a 361 total at Riverside Golf Course but finished one shot behind Middleton (360) in suffering its second dual loss of the season. The Vikings defeated Madison La Follette, which shot a 382 total.
The Vikings, 4-2 in the Big Eight, were led by junior Molly Rozeboom’s 84. Junior Katie Brossard fired an 85 for Parker, and Amanda Becker added an 88.
“It’s fun to compete, but it’s tough to lose by one stroke,” Parker coach John Zimmerman said.
“We’ve got a week or so off, so we’re going to hit the range and work on a few things and do a few drills.”
La Follette’s McKenna Prestigiacomo fired a 6-over par 78 to claim medalist honors.
