— A 13-year-old boy who died Monday after getting hit by a car while riding his bike will be remembered as a quiet teenager who loved video games and the trombone.

Troy Kozbiel died at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, his grandmother Maryann Kozbiel said.

“He was just a good kid,” she said. “He played in the band.”

The collision occurred at Greenview and Park roads at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Walworth County Sheriff David Graves said.

Greenview and Park is an uncontrolled intersection.

The driver of the car has not been charged with a crime, District Attorney Phil Koss said, and the incident remains under investigation.

Troy had severe chest and head injuries after the crash, his grandmother said.

He was taken to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn and then transported to Children’s Hospital, where he died Monday morning, Maryann said.

Troy was baptized at the hospital before his death, she said, and his organs were donated to save others.

Troy attended school in Lake Geneva, Maryann said, and he enjoyed fishing and carpentry.

“He did a lot of things with his dad,” she said.

Deanna Kozbiel, Troy’s aunt, said her nephew had a lot to offer the world.

“He was just a great little person,” she said. “He was just very loving, just very loving to all children and adults.”

Troy enjoyed working on inventions, she said. He also liked all-terrain vehicles and household projects.

“There was not much in life he didn’t like,” she said. “He was just an amazing guy.”

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Bloomfield Township Police Department with investigating the crash, Graves said.

Bloomfield police refused to comment on the incident.

God allows man to make decisions and choices. It was men who ambushed the planes that flew into the WTC. They CHOSE to do what they did. Yes, God was there: with those that died, with those that survived, and with those family and friends who needed comfort and support. Just as God is with this boy and his family, whether in spirit or in the arms of friends who are holding them close and comforting however possible.

waterfrontdean...it all goes back to the fall of man. Once sin came into the world (from the disobedience of Adam) man will always endure pain and suffering. Like you said, God allows this to happen. Doesn't look like it, but good does come out of bad situations.

I think it is amazing that this family still had the presence of mind to consider how donating their sons organs would help others...
Thank you.
I hope your son and your family finds peace.

Besides, if you believe in God, baptism is a testament of faith and NEVER embarrassing!!

Rickwantsmoney..Jesus was not baptized until He was 30 to set an example for us. Babies/children do not need to be baptized to be saved, God is not a mean God, therfore, I do not believe He would send innocent children to hell anyways. It's not baptism that saves a soul, it's the belief in Jesus Christ that does.

rickwantsmoney, and here is a wake up call for you, maybe you should go to church and learn how not to judge other peoples choices , does it matter why? no will it bring this little boy back , no , i will never understand why someone always feels the need to come on here and comment on the people that are already hurting the most

They have my sympathy, but if they believed in baptism, why did they wait 13 years? What if God had taken him on the spot? This might be a "wake up" call to any other parents out there even if they're "sitting on the fence" about whether God exists or not. Baptism is painless (and less embarrassing for the child) when they're tiny. Just a thought.

Newspapers follow an established pattern of writing which includes "boy hit by car" and "gun goes off and wounds two people".

I suggest, without placing blame, "man hits boy with car" -- "gun fired by man (woman/child) wounds two people".

Cars and guns are inanimate. They do nothing on their own.

How sad, no PARENT should ever have to see their child buried. I am so sorry!! I also pray for your healing, driver, I know you must be devistated as well. At least you all know that your little angel will live on in the people his much appreciated and needed organs will save. Thank you so much for giving the gift of life.

God bless this boy, his family and friends, and the driver of the car. And thank you, Troy's family, for making the supreme sacrifice of donating his organs. I know he is being cradled in Jesus' arms as you read this.
