Walworth County woman sentenced for neglect of patient
BURLINGTON A Walworth County woman will spend four months in prison after getting sentenced last week for felony neglect of a patient, according to a Wisconsin Department of Justice news release.
Eileen K. Lee, 55, of 1851 Division St., East Troy, will be on probation for four years after her release from prison, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced in the news release.
Lee, who was sentenced Friday in Racine County Court, also must perform 100 hours of community service and undergo a mental health evaluation.
According to the criminal complaint, Lee was responsible for patient wound care at Mt. Carmel Medical and Rehabilitation Center, 677 E. State St., Burlington, in April 2005.
Lee treated a patient with three minor wounds for about a month, according to the complaint, and she neglected to assess the patient’s condition.
It later was discovered that the patient had developed more than 11 wounds, according to the complaint, and some of them appeared infected.
Lee admitted that she never checked or treated the wounds because she was “overwhelmed,” according to the complaint.
The patient died in June 2005, according to the complaint.
An autopsy revealed that the patient had died from bacteria that had entered the body through the wounds, according to the complaint.

Pretty light sentence considering someone died what may have been a preventable death. What I find even more interesting is that it sounds like she was the ONLY person to take care of wounds. Does anybody know if in fact she was the ONLY person to take care of wounds at the facility?
