Janesville bar owner killed in motorcycle crash
TROY TOWNSHIP A Janesville bar owner was killed when his motorcycle collided with a truck Thursday night in Sauk County.
Mark Hamilton, 50, was traveling north on Highway 60 when his 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a 1997 Chevrolet truck traveling south just before 7 p.m.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle crossed the centerline. It is unknown whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The 21-year-old Spring Green man who was driving the truck was not injured.
Hamilton suffered severe head and chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Hamilton was the owner of Hammy’s Roadside bar at 2131 Center Ave. in Janesville.

I cannot believe that Hammy is gone. I had recently met him when I was told about my Aunt Lori Kruegers terminal cancer. Hammy and Suzanne helped raise money for my Aunt and they also came to the Benefit. Hammy sang his "Hammy Cash" tunes for everyone at the benefit and everyone was very impressed. Hammy also won the 50/50 raffle and then gave 100% of it back to the benefit- very generous of him!

My deepest thoughts to Suzanne, Jessica, Andrew, Barb & Brenda. I grew up in the neighborhood with Mark & his sisters. He was always a character that had you laughing and smiling. In fact my last time seeing him was at Hammy's, up front as usual, singing "Johnny Cash". With his personality, who could not like him. My husband works for a vending company and every business he walked into today, someone was talking about "Hammy" being such a great guy and only kind words were being said.
Jessica, keep your chin up and your dad will be by your side as you walk down that aisle. An earring will move, a wisp of hair will tickle your face..something will be a sign for his little girl. Andrew, your the man of the house now...but don't be afraid to let your guard down, let others support you at this time. Suzanne, I am so very sorry. I wish I knew the words to make it all better and take away all the heartache. One day at a time is all I know.
Barb & Brenda~Your brother was a great guy! Hold dear his memories.

I am continually impressed with the curb appeal at Hammy's. Now, in reading these comments, if I were looking to purchase a bar (don't worry, I'm not-- I couldn't follow in the footsteps of this family business), I'd seriously look at it.
I have yet to meet any of the family. I do know that my neighbor frequents Hammy's. There were countless times I saw Hammy's truck out front of the house dropping my neighbor off who was too drunk to drive. I only knew it from the license plate.
Suzanne, don't forget all the good memories! I pray that helps you through this devastating tragedy!
Jess, I am sure your dad would still want you to walk down the aisle! Your dad will send you the right person to take his place. You will be beautiful as ever! Remember to honor him as he was a wonderful being!
Andrew (Lil' Hammy), you've got some shoes to fill, but know that there are so many people cheering for you to succeed.
To the whole family, Hammy was well-loved within the community (and area), keep his spirit alive! He will ALWAYS be with you as you laugh, cry and live! He is watching over you for the rest of your lives and waiting for you on the other side!

Thoughts and prayers to the family...
A BIKERS PRAYER
MAY THE SUN RISE IN FRONT OF ME
MAY THE RAIN FALL BEHIND ME
AND THE WIND FOLLOW ME
MAY THE ANGELS OF MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE ME
GUARD MY TRAVELS
FOR THEY KNOW THE PERILS
OF THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME
KEEP ME SAFE THROUGH THE ROUGH CITY STREETS
ON MY WAY TO THE LAND OF SWIRLING TURNS
AND ROLLING HILLS
LET THE COLOURS OF FALL KEEP ME WARM
LET THE EAGLE GUIDE ME TO THE MOUNTAINTOPS
LET THE MOONS LIGHT GUIDE ME
THROUGH THE NIGHT
MAY MY TYRES NOT FAIL ME
NOR MY ENGINE GROW OLD
MAY MY BIKE DRAW LIFE
FROM THE STREAMS I PASS
KEEP MY SEAT SOFT AND MY MIND SHARP
LET THE AIR OF SPRING BREATHE LIFE
INTO MY SOUL
TO JOURNEY TO ANOTHER ADVENTURE
BESIDES MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
