UPDATED: Police investigate stabbing
Janesville police are investigating a stabbing incident that happened early this morning, Sgt. Terry Sheridan said.
Though police originally believed the stabbing happened at a party, it now appears it did not happen at a party, Sheridan said. Police have not yet been able to determine where the stabbing occurred.
The victim, a 20-year-old Janesville woman, was treated and released at Mercy Hospital, Sheridan said. He declined to say where on her body she was stabbed but said she did receive stitches. She also had facial fractures, he said.
"They were significant injuries, but they're not life-threatening injuries," Sheridan said.
The stabbing appears to have been done by some kind of kitchen knife, he said.
The police department will release more information after further investigation, he said.

BeenThereDoneThat - first of all, what makes you think that I'm a lad? Second of all, why would you accuse me of being an "under the rocks" person just because I criticized you for making a heartless comment? Thirdly, I am not a "rapid blogger". I logged onto the gazette's website to check the news of the day because I hadn't had time to read my print edition yet. I always read the recent blog listings when I do that. Not my fault that the blog might have been posted minutes before I logged on. Seems to me, however, that your posting came well before mine, so who seems to be the rapid blogger in this conversation? Hmmm...
And before you make grandiose statements about overweight people who can't do anything but plant themselves in front of a computer, maybe you should make sure that you don't live in a glass house.

Just my opinion, and un-optimistic thought, but I do believe that people that are in these situations are "usually" aware of the danger the people around them posess. So, I absolutely could be wrong, and if I am, I am sorry, but my first instinct is to think that this was a "thug" type crime, and this girl was hanging with this thug type person, and what else can you expect if you chose to surround yourself with these people. I am also a person to come to the defense when there are irratically charged commenters, but, this just doesn't happen in your everyday hard working families. Unless it is a break in or a mugging. ***AGAIN*** MY OPINION MY THOUGHTS. (and I have a right to them, just as you all have a right to assume that this girl was an innocent bystander).

It would be nice if there was a new update to this story, no matter what it turns out to be.

If "Police have not yet been able to determine where the stabbing occurred", it seems like the girl is not cooperating and telling them what happened. Sounds wierd.

maybe she started it and someone else defended themself? For what other reason why hasnt anyone else been arrested yet? Drunk chics can be brutal, and most turn into drama queens and try to take on the world. There are 2 sides to every story, everyone is assuming shes a poor little innocent girl...why? Because shes a girl?

This is a tragedy and very serious as to the injuries. The comments made were uncalled for and the friends dont let friends was BS as FRIENDS dont stab and beat a friend..... And just because it was a kitchen knife dont mean someone wasnt carrying it on them or in a purse, or that it happened in a kitchen or home for that matter. What matters is this girl was seriously injured and the one or ones responsible could do it again!!!!!! to her or maybe someone close to the less compassionate ones with their sick comments. As to the injuries and being released at Mercy most likely no insurance or prominant name......

Abuse is never right. She is only 20...as I have a 22 year old I hate these stories. A young girl can make one mistake and pay for it for years....I hope she is ok.

You just shouldn't use a knife to tap a keg or you will get hurt.
