Janesville's Riverside Park to reopen
JANESVILLE -- Riverside Park will open 5 p.m. Friday, the city announced. The boat launch will open Saturday.
Flooding has kept the park closed for most of the summer. City workers and volunteers have cleared debris and cleaned streets, trails, buildings, the boat launch, benches and picnic tables, according to a news release. The playground sand was removed and will be replaced in the near future. Lawn repairs will begin once remaining wet areas have dried.
For more information, call the park department at (608) 755-3025.

involvedparent- i was not complaining. i appreciated all of the poeple that helped clean up the park. i was being sarcatic when i said that becuase they are talking aboutt this 7 million dollar musuem cause "they is nothing to do in this town" . If you look at my posts youll see why I ask why are we spending 7 milion on something we dont need and start cleaning up what we do have here that is great like parks etc. they say they dont have enough money to mow the parks so why spend all this money on a museum when you could take your kids to the park!!!

Yes I did help...I paid taxes. And obviously they arent fixing the roads so wheres my money going? Jet some inmates out there and a street sweeper... you could clean the whole park in like a few hours. They just need someone who can make stuff happen rather than sitting around in meetings talking about it.

hannah/pwrtrip - did either of you volunteer your spare time to help with the clean-up of the parts of Janesville that were devastated by the flooding? I think not. It is the city's responsibility to clean-up up the mess, but as a responsible citizen of this city it is your responsibility to help. Whether you volunteer or donate money - it has to be a "community's" job to make our parks beautiful once again. Since you obviously didn't volunteer don't whine and complain when your taxes increase because the city has to pay it's employees overtime for the 15-18 hour days they worked to get the job done.

Great news. Riverside has always been a relaxing place to go. Thank you volunteers who helped to clean it up. I just feel bad for the residents of the local neighborhood there who may have to tear down their homes. Good luck to them all!

Pwrtrip, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? Some predictions had the parks closed through November. This is great news and outstanding performance by city crews and volunteers.

The floods receded weeks ago, floods are not what kept it closed, Janesvilles lack of organization and inability to stay on the ball is what kept it closed.
