Fatal crash possibly caused by two drunk drivers

By Associated Press   August 2, 2008 - 10:16 a.m.

BROOKFIELD (AP) — Brookfield police say both drivers in a two-vehicle crash that killed one man may have been intoxicated.

Driving one vehicle was a 42-year-old Pewaukee man who police says has six prior arrests for drunken driving dating to 1998.

The other driver died and he is a 51-years-old man from nearby Elm Grove.

Police say the Pewaukee man’s minivan was heading west on Capitol Drive early Friday as the Jeep was entering the thoroughfare.

Police are awaiting the results of blood-alcohol level tests.

The Pewaukee man’s injuries are not life threatening. Two passengers from the Jeep were taken to a local hospital.

My condolences...Would this have happened if both were high on marijuana?

Momof5 that is an interesting idea. But nothing is going to work for people if they don't want to better themselves. My husband grew up with and has known the drunk driver his whole life. He was in prison for two years and has been out for about two. He has lost everything in his life that was good from his addictions and he had promised he had changed. Sorry to say we had both been waiting for this day. Some people can't handle life and drag everyone down with them. God bless the family affected by his problems.

These drunks will just have somebody else buy there booze like we all did when we where kids, Mandatory jail time first offense 6 months and keep going up from there and if there is an injury caused to someone then just like the sign on the highway say hit a worker 14 years, hit and kill a kid life. Truth in sentence mandatory jail for years lost in life if a person dies at 40 and life expectancy is 78 then 38 years behind bars and if more than one life is lost than the total of them together, maybe then people will think twice about drinking and driving.

It is a SAD day in this country when a NBA ref is sentenced to 15 months in PRISON for fixing games but a person who has been arrested 6 times for drunk driving is out driving on the streets......KILLING people.
.
Freaking amazing.
.
I think that software should be developed that allows a merchant (restaurant, bar, liquor store, etc) to swipe a driver's license (like a credit card). If a patron is revoked (due to DUI charges), then they cannot be sold alcohol. I know, I know. How dare I infringe on "their" civil liberties. Well, you know what, how dare they infringe on my civil liberties and rights to have my family out on the streets and not "worry" about being hit by a drunk driver; or worse....a repeat offender.
