Severe storms approaching; flood warnings continue

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Rock and Green counties. A flood warning remains in effect for the Sugar River at Brodhead.

A storm with destructive winds capable of producing penny-size hail is moving northeast out of the Monroe area and is expected to be in Orfordville by 940 a.m., Fulton and Edgerton by 945 a.m. and Milton and Janesville by 9:50 a.m.

Flood information from the NWS: AT 0415 AM SUNDAY THE FLOOD STAGE AT BRODHEAD WAS 4.50 FEET. FLOOD STAGE IS 5.0 FEET.

THE SUGAR RIVER IS FORECAST TO RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY LATE THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE TO RISE TO NEAR 7.5 FEET BY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY FRIDAY EVENING.

Tragic news and tragic disaster. A memorial has been created in honor of the victims of this deadly storm.
