Harry Potter and the sleepy morning
I would like to announce that I have finally finished the Harry Potter series! I read the entire second half of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" last night, and if I seem a little incoherent this morning, it's because I stayed up too late doing it. (I finished the book at exactly midnight; does anyone else find that a little creepy? And of course, I couldn't go right to sleep after reading 250 pages of the last Harry Potter book.)
Like most readers, I was sad to come to the end of the series. To use a horribly trite convention, I felt like I was saying good-bye to some good friends. The adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione kind of took over my life for the last two months.
But at least it's not good-bye forever. I'm still waiting on the last three movies. (That's right, three -- the last book will be two movies.) And the books will always be on my shelves in case I want to enter the world of Hogwarts again.

Yes but the "prequel" is only like a page long and at the end she wrote that it's the beginning of a prequel she's never going to write.

I think the seventh book was a little lengthy, also. I remember having a very conflicting experience while reading it. I was DYING to see what happened, but was almost terrified of the story being over. I loved that series.
Has anyone else seen the news clips regarding Rowling's "Prequel"? It's supposed to be all about Harry's life before Hogwarts--only it's not for the public to buy. She wrote it exclusively for a charity auction being held sometime today!!!

While I agree with Beth's assessment of the feelings behind the endless camping, I found the 7th book far too easy to put down during that section.
Whenever Stan Stricker and I are watching any movie that seems to be dragging, we remark, "They're in the tent."

I know I'm in the minority, but my take on the "tent scenes" is that it's a claustrophobic and stressful time for them. The days seem endless and they aren't making much horcrux progress. Plus, it's the first time Ron and Hermione have gone without a regular food source. That is all. I don't want to spoil anything for any other Gazette reporters who are just reading the books. Yes, the fighting was tiresome. That whole scene with them traveling was a bit drawn out, I think.
I was also surprised by the body count. I had hear rumors of "a few main characters" getting wiped but there were far more than "a few".
Did the book make you cry? Some chapters had me needing a tissue box handy.

Actually, I had a little trouble getting through the first half of the book because it was just him, Ron and Hermione sitting around and fighting for SO LONG. The second half was awesome though.

Wasn't that last book something else?
I got the book shortly after it came out and went into almost total seclusion while reading it to avoid spoilers and faster readers. LOL. I finished it in the middle of the night, too.
