Unknown, if you go back to Milton College someday, take English classes.

So - maybe not classrooms - but what about administration offices?

If I had my way & $$, I would swoop in & renovate them.

What comes to mind is Parkville College in Parkville, MO. Parkville is a tourist draw because the college sits high atop a bluff overlooking a beautiful river. The town itself is nestled at the base with foo-foo shops and restaurants. Milton would have a looooooooooong way to go before they'd accomplish anything akin to Parkville. Major dollars....MAJOR dollars.

The Whitford Hall needs some *serious* TLC - but it's a fabulous builing. The wood floors are still in & solid. It also boasts high windows & ceilings. Whitford used to be the science hall. In some parts you can still see where some experiments went wrong!! The rooms in that hall are large, but when you get into the Goodrich hall, you will find that these are smaller - because it was the women's dorm. I think the Main Hall was used for offices & a dorm too, but that was turned into the Milton College Museum. It would be cool to see something nice happen to those buildings, other than sit there and collect dust!

The companion article "A New Vision For Milton" indicates that the university people spoke to "officials" at BlackHawk Tech and they "expressed enthusiasm about opening a satellite in Milton." That makes them sound slighty more intersted than not even remotely.

I would highly doubt BTC would be even remotely interested in purchasing, rehabing if needed....i think it would be a great thing if the college were to be used again as a college....but my bet is the only way would be if it were a private college....not associated with the UW.....or BTC....who knows..may be upper iowa could leave BTC and take up residence at the old Milton College.....

An here is something for Milton residents to think about.Yes it will cost Milton money there is no question about that.Here is the catch.Any students atending Milton High School wouldnt have to levave Milton to continue there education.An Milton dose have for the most part a friendly enviorment.That means the adjustment from Highschool to college woldnt be to dificult.Plus Milton could get future town leaders that way as well to.Something to think about for the future of Milton.

As a Milton High School Grad 1984-1988.I would have loved to have gone to Milton Colgege to continue my education.But when i graduated in 1988 the college.It would certianly be in Miltons best intrest an haveing a college again.And this would Benifit the city of Milton.I say yes an if my tax dollars goe towards the opening of Milton College i am for it.An at the time of the schools closeing that was a big huge mistake to let the college goe like that.An i hope it can be reoponed.

The UW system would not be interested, as they like having everything right there on campus.

If BTC isn't interested, how about UW-Whitewater or UW-Rock County?
This is a great idea. Goodrich Hall has been for sale, Whitford Hall is for sale (albeit at a ridiculous price). Let's git 'er done!

It's an interesting idea, but BTC has invested a lot of taxpayer money in its main campus, so it would certainly require some politicking to decide whether this investment would be something worthwhile to the BTC multi-county region to invest in.

This doesn't sound like reopening Milton College, but the use of its former buildings by BTC. It's a little deceptive. But either way, it would be good for Milton.

How exciting!!! I grew up near the college campus and walked through it every day to go to school. Later I attended Milton College. It was so wonderful when the Vets came back from World War II. I have many wonderful memories of Milton College.

Who's gonna benefit? Taxpayers!! Go Milton!!

How would the college be "added back" to the community. The old buildings have either been revovated to new uses, or not currently able to be utilized for educational purposes. Who is going to pay? Tax payers?

I would love to see Milton College up an up and running college again for future generations, my husbands Grandma recieved her degree form Milton in the 1930's.

As a Milton resident, I love this idea! It would really reflect the communities values and historic qualities!
