You want a genuine 3D experience? Turn off your TV.

Talking_Monkey- I get headaches from trying to decode nwoite's attempts at grammar. For the life of me I cannot figure out what it is trying to convey.

3D TVs are just another level of specialized home entertainment that people can opt for. Is your nightly news going to go 3D? Doubt it. But if you have kids chances are you have (or been asked for) a Wii, PS3, or Xbox.

3D is just another option. It's fun, a little gimmicky, and only of value to the person who enjoys it.

Standard definition TV is still the standard - unless you watch NFL on Fox... The pushed the score off to the left of SD tV so only HD tvs can display it. So be it, I'm still in no hurry to upgrade - I have other, more important, things to save for.

No need for fancy TV's for me...

My old secondhand early 80's Trinitron and mid-90's Magnavox work just fine, thank you!

nwoite, not everyone can afford cable or dish network, where have you been? The economy alone can give you that info! They are not dinosuars, why do you think they sell the conversion boxes? Just for the fun of it? Because a person/family cannot afford that thousand dollar TV makes them no different from you or I. My son doesn't have anything but internet, they watch programs on there and dvds and they are happy and have extra money a month by saving on cable. Priorities are number one, you should know that.

When they come up with a holographic TV that can project an image like the one Luke Skywalker was watching to see Princess Leah(?) then I would be interested.

Amen Scooter! I've put myself in a position where I can actually afford those kinds of things should I choose to have them and the funny thing is, I've realized I'm perfectly happy without them. I can take what I've been blessed with and reach out to less fortunate folks which is far better gratification than catching "The Bachelor" on HD TV ...ANYDAY!

Kleej, you are right and what is really sad is these companies are not even located in the United States. I thought it was a bunch of bull when they switched to digital and antennas were no longer viable without a special box. What happen to the companies that sold antennas and rabbit ears? They went out of business, that is what happened. I will not buy on time, I will not charge to a credit card, the TV we have is just fine and that is what we will continue to watch. I could go to Get It Now and have payments, but NO way will I do that.

scooter47~ that's what this culture has been minimized to. It's the rich companies (like the one's manufacturing these 3-D TV's) that keep getting richer because they along with the others have done a great job at entertaining the public into being ignorant enough to keep spending money that they don't have for something they don't need. A viscious cycle. The American way; entitlement, instant gratification, I'll buy now and pay later (if I can afford to make the payment!)

I can't even afford a HD TV, let alone a 3-D one! My gosh, we are all going to have to become rich to watch television. What is this world coming to?

The newest 3D TV technology does not require a person to wear glasses. All types of TV cause some type of problem is watched to long.

The technology will need to change. I was recently at Best Buy and they want $150 for the glasses. The program shown in 3D with the glasses was great...but not that much better than regular HD...without the glasses it was a bad pic.
.
I don't wear glasses and don't want to. In addition I certainly don't want to spend a nickel on glasses with two kids under 6 in my house.
.
Spend $2000+ on a TV that requires glasses that my children will certainly try to break...that they also need to wear...I don't get it. A friend of mine just decided to go with a 3D TV. Perhaps that will change my mind...I doubt it though... for the $$$..my $1000 50" Plasma HDTV is good enough for me?

The technology to make 3D televisions exists. Right now there very expensive and aren't mass marketed. But it won't be long before the technology exist to make them very affordable and they'll be in homes. It's the future and 3D ads are only going to grow in numbers. You won't need special glasses.

I have contact lenses because I don't like to wear glasses. Why in the hell would I want to put on special glasses to watch my favorite TV shows?! ESPN is going to be the first to broadcast 3D television on some events. I could care less.
