They were +525 just to win the Central division. A wager I personally put a few dimes on. The team is far better then last year. The biggest reason is of course there is NO YOST this year!!! Who was perhaps the worse manager in modern MLB history. He cost them AT LEAST 8 games last year on managing alone.
.
The pitching is fine. Thank God they did not waste millions on CC. He was so over used last year, that his arm will be shot this year. All the 3 days rest, and 100+ outings last year will destroy him. I have data that can document that from other pitchers who did that. You Cub fans can remember all the pitchers Dusty Baker shot by over using them. CC and Sheets were VASTLY over rated. Garrado and Parra are the real future, and picking up inning eater Bradon Looper is a big plus. Capuano would be a nice bonus if he comes back into form in late May/June (which is what they expect him back).
.
The offense is pretty much the same as last year. HR power from top to bottom, and I expect Weeks, and Feilder to have better seasons then last. Also some nice talent coming up from the farm.
.
My vote (and $$$) is on a division win. A massive value at better then 5/1 odds. The one wager that was just as sound was taking the Yankees UNDER 98.5 wins for the season (a wager that is pretty free $$$ at even money odds, but you have to have your capital invested about 7 months before being able to collect) . As usual, you make $$$ betting sports by finding value, and shorting HYPE!

No pitching, no defense, no playoffs. They're relying too much on young arms like Yo and Parra. When young starters make a 30 or 40 IP jump in the MLB they get hurt. Yo's highest IP is 110. No way he makes it to 180. Look at yesterday. 10 runs versus SF? They've got the worst lineup in the NL. And who exactly would they trade for Peavy? Gamel? Escobar? Prince? They'll see the writing on the wall and move Prince for some young arms this summer.

They will have another winning season. If the experts are right, we will win 92 games and miss the playoffs. SI has the Cubs winning to the mets in the divisional, but they had the Brewers worse off last year. Definitely are going to have to do better pitching to do anything. They have the run producing ability, but pitching is still weak.

Brewers could go in as a wild card. If they listen to all the so called experts, they may as well stay home since they are giving the division and world series to the Cubs like they did last year. At least there is one thing we can count on in October and that is watching the Cubs choke again for the 102nd year in a row!!! GO BREWERS!!!

prince is not a free agent next year. he is arbitration eligible every year but he is NOT a free agent and unless the brewers trade him, he WILL be in a brewer uniform next year. ALL players are committed to their drafting team for the first 6 years of major league service. all brauns contract did last year was secure him for an extra 3 years...not 8. as for giving up to much for CC. i was at the clincher against the cubs...and there is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way what we paid for him was to much. no way. THAT...WAS...THE...BEST...BREWERS...GAME...SINCE...1982. my vote was wild card. i think we will chase the chubs but if our pitchers stay solid we have the O to win some ball games...

The Brewers won't go after Peavy...They gave up too much last season for CC and now he's gone. I don't see them doing that again. The Padres are going to want too much. I'd rather see them give it all they've got with what they've got and keep bringing up those top level prospects. The only way I could see them going after Peavy is by shopping Fielder. He probably won't re-sign next year, so if they can get something for him, why not. But, I'd hate to see them give up Gamel and a pitching prospect to get Peavy. La Porta is going to be a stud...only now for another team in order to rent CC for 3 months.

Fielder had a down year last year and he should bounce back and have a year more like two years ago (50 hrs). Hart and Weeks have had great springs. Braun needs to get healthy and do what he did last year. If the Brewers are within striking distance around the All-Star break, they will make a trade for Jake Peavey to give them solid 1-2-3 starting pitching along with Gallardo and Parra. I predict they make the playoffs.

With the record in spring training, I feel the Brewers will make the play offs. But their pitching in the past has hurt them. But hopefully this will change this year. And if it does, maybe we'll see them go all the way to the World Series.

I should add...Gallardo and Para are both very good, but inconsistent at times. Suppan could have a good year, but I have little faith in Bush and whoever winds up getting the most starts in the 5th spot. And, Spring record usually is no indication for the regular season. Most teams are full of guys trying to make it to the show, and the big names rarely play full games.

They'll be right there at the end, but I can't see them pushing into the playoffs. With a pretty questionable pitching staff, they're going to lose some games because they can't keep runners from getting across the plate. I like their offense, but unless they can add another solid starter, they'll have to score an awful lot of runs to win some games. I think they'll end up 3rd in the division.

Pitching wins in the end. Unless someone is picked up or Gallardo and Parra perform above expectations the Brew Crew will miss the playoffs, but not by much.
btw coyote, it's not like anyone is forcing you to pay attention to baseball. Some care, you don't. whoopee!

They'll finish 4th behind the Cubs, the Cards and the Reds. No chance at the playoffs.

Our pitching has to be at least somewhat good, seeing that our record in spring training is 22-10, which is the best record for national league teams.

They have no pitching....unless something dramatically changes they won't make the playoffs. But I most certainly hope they do! We've been waiting long enough for an appearance in the World Series.

I voted -> Earn a wild card birth to the play-offs..<- It all depends on how the injury bug plays in our favor.. If we can not stay healthy .. they might as well call it and play golf in the winter... Way too many injuries last year at critical points of the line up made a difference to winning the the division or even playing in the post season... Keep them healthy .. and the NL Central belongs to the Brewers
