we had the offense last year. just not the experience. losing the lead last year gives us some of that. were starting hot and our future ace hasnt toed the mound, and neither has our all star center fielder. you coco fans wait for 3 years from now when he's on the DL or the bench and theyre STILL payin him his 11+ mill. say what you want about the coco lack of signing, but as far as im concerned doug melvin has not made a mistake yet, and they didnt with coco either. THIS....IS....OUR...YEAR.

Cordero is a joke. Do not kid yourself. Before he did so well in Milwaukee, he was LIT UP almost daily in Texas. After the all star break last year, he was returning back to his normal form. Look how many saves he blew last year after the break. It would have been the biggest waste of money ever to resign him. Gagne will be fine. Just give it time, and you will see...
The Cubs are simply NOT the team to beat. Even a novice handicapper can see that. The same people saying they were the ones saying the Bears were the team to beat in the NFL in 07. All the sharps cashed in MASSIVE windfall on the Packers to win the division at 4/1 odds, knowing the Bears were a 3rd place team at best.

Cordero wanted a long term deal. Gagne is only on a one year contract. I'm saying signing a 32 year old pitcher(closer) to a multi-year contract for the amount of money Cordero got is not a very good way to spend money. The bullpen is much better than it was last year they have guys that can come out of the bullpen and pitch two or three innings if they need to. I'm not getting my hopes up ten games in but, they are a better ball club than last year.

Whybesad, Cordero is 32 and SO IS GAGNE! Gagne was available because he is done after arm surgery, and blew saves daily. Cordero was willing to sign for less to stay in Milwaukee than he did for the Reds. Gagne is on a one yr 10 million donation, and Cordero is getting 46 over 4 yrs. My guess is, by all-star break, you will wish Milwaukee had spent those extra dollars. As of April 10th, there is nothing taking care of "so far". You saw last year, there are 162 games to play. Don't base a season on a 10 day window.

Hard to spend that much money on Coco he is 32 years old. The brewers have a better bullpen without him. The cubs are the team to beat? Well if thats the case it looks like the brewers have taken care of that so far.

I wouldn't chirp about anything until the season is over. We heard all this "too much offense and pitching" all year. Or at least until August. The Cubs are still the team to beat, yet the Cardinals are always tough with Larussa as manager. The Reds are improved and have the closer the Brewers should have kept. Astros and Pirates will be basement dwellers.

Gagne blew another save tonight, but I still don't think Brewer fans should worry. Just read the comments of his catcher; Jason Kendall; who is one of the biggest straight shooters in the game. His stuff is fine. He's just had some bad early luck. The HR hit tonight was an easy out a few years back, or in any other ball park. They moved that section of the bleachers in last season, and now it's just a big bull's eye for hitters...
All part of the bastardization of the game, compliments of these new ball parks/cracker jack boxes.

The Cards in my mind were a serious consideration to bet on to win the central, considering there odds were a ridiculous +625 (that's a little better then 6/1 for those who don't follow Vegas pricing). It was definitely a consideration to do a hedge bet at that price, but a lot of things have to go right for them (with all the injuries) for them to beat the Brewers in my mind. One can, of course, always hedge the bet during the season as well, so I'll have to see how things play out as the season progresses...One thing I can say for certain is that there is NO VALUE in the Cubs at a RIDICULOUS price of +110..That is literally the worse, miscalculated, sucker wager one could possibly make.

Brewers win the central hands down to much offensive weapons. Cards won't be able to keep up.

With Carpenter and Mulder coming back, the Brewers don't have a snowballs chance in Hades. Cardinals all the way!!

Sheets really isn't the big concern. The bigger concerns are keeping all the young starters healthy. Parra, Villanueva, and Gallardo are going to be the the heart of the rotation. Zach Jackson may also play into the equation down the road...The Crew is much better this year in the bull pen. Risky may have been one of the best signings in all of baseball. A guy that few ever heard of, being in the small market of KC. Yet a guy that baseball insiders know was a total hidden GEM! Getting Moto was also a major upgrade to the relief staff. Turn"blow" is obviously still a major potential problem.
Gagne, I'm NOT concerned about a bit. His stuff was fine in that blown save to Chicago. He hit the black on most his pitches, and simply never got the call. It was also a cold rainy day in Chicago. I LOVE how all the pundits said he was finished after that start. Just makes me know even more that he'll be an all star, when it's all said and done....
The crew should win the central. They were +220 in Vegas, and I gladly laid a few dimes on that. Only problem with wagers like that is that you have your capitol tied up for 8 months. Nonetheless it will be windfall come October.

Don't get too used to Sheets on the mound, or in a Brewer uniform. He's bound to stub a toe or get a hangnail sooner or later. If he pitches well this year and stays healthy, he'll want big money to stay. If he falls in the shower and misses half the season, the Brewers will cut him lose a la the Cubs with Mark Prior. It's a shame the Crew couldn't have figured out a way to keep him healthy. Too much talent gone to waste...can you say Fidrich, anyone??

If they can keep the pitching healthy through August they should have a good chance at things. They are having a great start like they did last year!
