If the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletics Association sanctioned cheerleading, lacrosse or bowling as a sport, should your school support a team in one or more of them?

ultimate frisbee!!!!

Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football. The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone. A player must stop running while in possession of the disc, but may pivot and pass to any of the other receivers on the field. Ultimate is a transition game in which players move quickly from offense to defense on turnovers that occur with a dropped pass, an interception, a pass out of bounds, or when a player is caught holding the disc for more than ten seconds. Ultimate is governed by Spirit of the Game™, a tradition of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the players rather than referees. (taken from upa.org)

And I am quite sure that dealers would work for tips.

When will the poker athletes be allowed to display their talents? Very little expense involved: A deck of cards, a kitchen table, and sunglasses.

I would support them only if it involved a co-op team from at least five schools.

While I appreciate the effort that cheerleaders put in and the physical ability needed to participate these days, I still think the primary role of a cheer squad is to support other teams. The one or two competitions they go to each year really don't make them a "sport". Bowling and LaCrosse do qualify, IMHO.

We have a nation of obese people. Schools should stop promoting competitive teams sports and start promoting lifestyle sports like hiking, biking, kayaking and so on.

I find it pretty ridiculous as to what many consider a "sport" these days. It has come to the point that people actually believe that the competitive eating, or spelling bee's, that they see on ESPN are sports.
You can debate forever what is, and what is not, a sport. The best definition that I have heard offered up to define a sport is: an athletic competition in which your athletic abilities are tested by that of another's, who is trying to stop you. In other words your athletic skills to accomplish something are tested by another's athletic skills playing defense in order to stop you...
You can argue that definition, but I think it is very sound..It eliminates bowling, golf, motor racing, and many others. All of which take talent and skill to be good at, but are simply not sports; but rather events, competitions, and or hobbies.

Lacrosse is a college sport and should be offered at the high school level.

Why do we need more sports at the H.S. level when we are cutting back in the elementary schools. My gosh we can't even have a simple/inexpensive chess club or have all grade levels put on Christmas performances and sping performances!!!

They are talking about a highschool sport not a CIA sport.
