okay
here is what i think
i think that we SHOULD license them because actually if you listen to what the people have to say about their landlords it isnt really that great.sometimes the landlords do not do anything and rely on their renters to pay for the utilities if they are broken. as a way that i see it
we just need to give to landlords a little more responsibility towards their actions and what not

What's next then? Do we license homeowners so THEY keep their own property updated?? Not a good idea.

I agree with the statement made by someone to the effect that it is another way to get more money from the public. What i believe should be done it that the health dept and the city needs to get on the ball and keep after these landlords that don't keep things up to code as far as health issues and safety issues. Focus on those things, not how to take more money from the public they already pay their taxes and that's enough.

licensing landlords is just another tax. taxes always get passed down to the user.
the plan is to make landlords get a license for every property they own.
for some, that is a huge burden.
for others smaller, but it is still an hindrance to operating a business. i think it's a bad idea that will ultimately end up being yet another fee passed on to regular folks.

if they do I think the security deposit should be higher. some of the tenants are going to wreak these homes and then the landlords may have to fix more silly little things. There should be restrictions as to what needs to be fixed etc.Safety issues like on used cars. I know a landlord women around me that doesnt, . care who she rents too or our neighbor hood. She always fills these places with seems to be drug LOOSERS and job less. They are always meeting the other they know in the alley. trafic in and out. They just must be really popular.Just as long as the place is rented she is happy and doesnt give a hoot about our neighbor hood. I dont like to prejudge people but ever time a new tenant moves in you can tell by looking at then theyre no good!!. It is funny too when they move into the neighbor hood they seem to know all the other drug dealing loosers in the area. When i move to a neighbor hood i dont know anybody. The landloards should be made to screen tenants and have them pass a licience test thing as well as the landlord.

It looks like most people would like to see landlords licensed. I vote "no" at this point, because I don't know the scope of the license. Does it apply to Mom & Dad that charge rent for their stay-at-home son? What powers does it give the city? Are landlords going to be responsible for other people's behavior, like child abuse? I read in the article (but can't find again to be sure), that there's only one city in Wisconsin that has this license. Why do we need to be the next? Why does this nation of free people continually want the government to take care of us?
