Although done with good intentions, the exterior walls of the pioneer cabin in Milton are spotted with past attempts to patch holes and leaks. A planned renovation will eliminate the blighted areas.

The pioneer cabin on the grounds of the Milton House is scheduled for a major renovation this spring. At over 170 years old, the cabin allows visitors to get a glimpse of life in Wisconsin as the area was first being colonized.

The interior of the tiny pioneer cabin on the grounds of the Milton House. In some places, the floorboards are stained where water leaks in and freezes in the winter months. The stairway is a modern feature that leads to the tunnel used in aiding runaway slaves in the mid 1800's.
