Our representative, Paul Ryan, it has been said for years, wants to do away with all our social programs as we know them and replace them with vouchers that will not be of enough help for people to afford decent health policies.

I suggest you look up the name Ady Barkan. This is a 34-year-old husband and father who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease one year ago. He has made two trips to Washington, D.C., to talk with representatives trying to get their votes to stop the tax bill and the assault on disability. He is already finding it hard to breathe at times and will need his disability to provide a ventilator.

For those of you who believe the Republican lies that every person on disability or every person that does not get paid enough to afford decent health care is too lazy to work, pay special attention to Ady’s story and pray you never have to go through a like situation.

There are many Ady Barkans in our country. Call the Republican representatives and leave a message to kill the tax bill with the repeal of the individual mandate for the Affordable Care Act included and any other bill that guts social programs. Most of the senators and congressmen and women will let you leave a phone message or leave your opinion with a representative in their Washington, D.C., offices. Remind them that they will own their actions.
