Recently, I was asked to be the honorary captain for our community-based football team, the Rock County Rage. I was probably asked because the team thought that I was a local dignitary.
It was the first time that I got to experience a semi-professional football game, and it was very enjoyable. The Rage was playing a Chicago team. Each team consisted of very dedicated players living their dream.
These young men don’t get paid to play, and they even have to buy their uniforms. Some travel 100 miles just to play and practice. And they are required to do volunteer work in our community.
I was very impressed to learn that some of these players were high school standouts, some college standouts, some military veterans and some very close to being in the NFL.
So, if you get a chance, get a schedule of the home games played at Milton High School and go out and watch your Rock County Rage. Oh yes, they do have nice-looking uniforms, and, last year, they won the national championship for their division.
Good luck gentlemen.
