It is always exciting to see interest in our local elected offices from new candidates. Oftentimes, there is not much for challengers to these positions. The Rock County Board is no different. While institutional knowledge should be respected and valued, it is to our citizens' advantage to have a more representative board and a more inclusive, diverse board.

I have taken the time to get to know Rock County Board District 26 candidate Mario Bullock. Mario has been an active, valued member of the African American Liaison Advisory Committee with the Janesville Police Department. He has promoted and participated in community outreach throughout the city and the Janesville School District. I have had the honor of attending those meetings and supporting their mission.

Mario has taken the time to educate himself on the issues. He is committed to developing relationships with his urban and rural neighbors. He has put this plan in action, knocking on doors in District 26 and listening to concerns. Mario has found many of the voters had never seen or spoken to their county representative.

I appreciate the dedication and concern Mario has demonstrated for his district and the greater Janesville community. He will do very well for District 26 and Rock County. I encourage you to support Mario Bullock for Rock County Board District 26. There is a primary for this district on Feb. 20. Bring your ID and vote for Mario!
