I am once again amazed at the control that the NRA has over our legislators. The Florida school shooting has again exposed the vulnerability that exists when assault rifles are so easily acquired, yet our lawmakers cower at the thought of limiting gun possession.

I have listened all morning to our NRA-supported legislators scold the public for responding so soon to the tragedy. They say we should mourn now to respect the victims. They hope that something else will get the attention of voters so they can once again dodge any action. They blame the shooting on a disturbed person and fall back on their slogan, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

Jeff Sessions is expressing his concern for the victims and hope for the families affected. You can see through that speech as he is no more than a puppet on strings controlled by the NRA.

I am in full support of hunters' rights and a person's ability to protect themselves, but assault rifles have no place in the general public, and we should at least make an attempt to limit possession. How long will it be before the next tragedy destroys a community?
