Details for Steven Edward Benash

Steven Edward Benash, age 66, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on Dec. 29th after a short battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 31, 1951, in Janesville, WI, the son of Edward and Beverly (Davis) Benash. He was united in marriage to Connie (Schneider) Benash on Sept. 23, 1969. He worked for many years as a Union Iron Worker for Local #1 out of Chicago and after, enjoyed retirement with his family. He was a hard-worker, jack-of-all-trades, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone he knew. His extremely generous nature and kind heart touched everyone around him. Steve is survived by his wife, Connie of Evansville; mother, Beverly of Milton; children, Jonathan (Heather) Benash of Belleville, Joseph Benash (Kelli Clark) of Madison; grandchildren, Owen and Ava Benash; sister, Diane (Rod) Kersten of Janesville, and brother, Jim (Susan) Benash of Edgerton. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, many of whom he treated as his own children, as well as brothers and sisters-in-laws; cousins; aunts; uncles; and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed; and his brother, Keith. Funeral services will be held at 12pm Noon on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Ward-Hurtley Funeral Home, 130 S. 5th St., Evansville, WI with the Pastor Matthew Poock presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bethel Cemetery in Evansville, WI following the service.
