Robert “Bob” J. Heckman, 60, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018, after a 6 year battle with cancer. He was born in Freeport, IL, on January 1, 1958, and graduated from Lanark High School in 1976. Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was stationed at Vandenburg Air Force base in California, where he learned power production. In 1987, he started work for CCI Systems where he was Lead Tech/Coax Splicer Supervisor. There, he met his lifelong friends, Greg and Lisa Anderson, and worked until his illness in 2013. Bob enjoyed bowling, gardening, growing his Zinnias, and golfing with his friends Shane Rose, Scott Wooden, and his sweetheart, Virginia Gonzales.

Bob is survived by his fiancée and longtime love, Virginia Gonzales; children: Mike, Steve, Andy, Billy, and Caroline Heckman; parents, John and Donna Heckman; brothers: Denny (Kathy Lewis) Heckman, Larry (Robin) Heckman; sisters, Kathy (Kirt) Gruhn, Cindy (Mike Leonard) Wagner; nieces and nephews: Janica, Branden, Jarren, Baily, Kara, Kyle, Kelsey, Carissa, Jakob, and Cole

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL DIRECTORS in Janesville, with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Share memories and condolences online at
