Edgerton, WI /Palm Springs, CA -- Richard “Dick” E. Giese passed away May 22, 2018 from natural causes. He was 82.
He was laid to rest on May 31, at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA, with full military honors. Richard was born and raised in Edgerton, WI. He was a 1953 graduate of Edgerton High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for 35 years, and retired as Command Sergeant Major. Up until his passing, he was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans, and championed their cause with state governments and also in Washington, D.C. He was instrumental in getting legislation passed benefiting all Veterans, and especially Disabled American Veterans. Even with his passing, his dedication and work for all Veterans is still being carried on.
Surviving Richard are his two children, Mike Giese of Palm Springs, CA; and his daughter, Laura (Stevers) of Largo, FL; his two grandchildren, Neil Shower of Englewood FL and Michael S. Giese of San Luis Obispo, CA; and his two great-grandchildren, Olivia Lynn Giese and Barrett Scott Giese. Preceding Richard in death was his second eldest son, David Giese (Edgerton/Palm Springs, CA); his mother, Adeline Giese of Edgerton; his aunt, Edna Giese of Edgerton; and uncle, Arthur Giese of Edgerton.
