Johnson Creek, WI --Rachel C. Hill-Smith, 44, of Johnson Creek, passed away with family at her side on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek. Rachel Catherine Hill was born on February 19, 1974 in Jefferson, the daughter of Robert and Pamela (nee Hahn) Hill. She was a 1992 graduate of Johnson Creek High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Communications in 1997 from Winona State University in Minnesota. Rachel met the love of her life at Spacesaver in Fort Atkinson, where she had been employed in the Marketing Department. On October 27, 2001 she was united in marriage to Donald Smith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek. Rachel had been employed in the Marketing Departments at Fort Atkinson Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Medseek in Madison, Bethesda Lutheran Homes in Watertown.  She was currently employed at Quartz in Madison. Rachel was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She also was a member of the Johnson Creek Fire Department for over 20 years, being one of the first females on the department. She loved taking trips with her family to Tennessee and Disney World.

Rachel is survived by her parents, Robert and Pamela Hill of Johnson Creek; husband, Donald Smith; and son, Adam Smith, both of Johnson Creek; sisters, Angela (Robert) Vierkant of Rochester, MN and Julie (Daniel Luneau) Hill of Addison, TX; grandmother, Eleanor Hahn of Fort Atkinson; as well as foreign exchange daughter, Pattarawadee Sittitoon from Thailand. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Marie Hill; and maternal grandfather, John E. Hahn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek, with Rev. Dale Vlastnik officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the church, Johnson Creek Mutual Hose Company, Jefferson County Cancer Coalition or Pink Heals Lake Country.
